A day in the Vercors Massif.

Last weekend, my father and I decided to get back to the mountains for a breath of fresh air. In trying times nothing is better than enjoying the silent peace and scenery that the Alps provide. Moreover the weather was in our favour. It was around 20°C outside which meant we had ideal conditions for our hike. For this particular outing we chose the Massif du Vercors, this is not the first time we set foot on that mountain, but it’s the first time we had set ourselves the goal to reach the summit.

The Vercors massif is to the south east of Grenoble as indicated by the picture above.

Before embarking on our adventure, we stopped by the supermarket to grab some sandwiches and Snickers bars. Why Snickers bars? For the energy boost, of course. Once we had all our supplies, we got back into the car and headed to a village named La Bâtie. When we arrived, finding no obvious parking spots, we sought advice from the locals on where to leave our car. They kindly pointed us towards a parking area, which, unfortunately, was a bit of a walk from the trailhead. So, after a short trek back up to the village, we commenced our hike, beginning on the “Chemin des Collets” trail.

Although this blog was meant to focus on film photography, I do admit that my Nikon D850 excels in lanscape photography, the ease of use and the ability to stitch several images together in post is unrivaled. Sure you can do that with analog but it is more of a hassle. That being said I have several film related projects I will write about in the following months.
