Another Copex Rapid adventure.

Yesterday, I decided to take the train to Arcachon. Having been there multiple times, I was afraid the novelty had worn off. In many ways, it had, but I was determined to come back with a few black-and-white shots I would be happy with.

For this trip I brought the old trusty Nikon FM2 along with my two favorite lenses Zeiss OTUS 55mm and the APO 135 F2. I can’t say enough good things about them. I wanted a high resolution film so I brought two rolls of AGFA COPEX RAPID and decided to expose these rolls at iso 25 to bump the shadows a bit and lower contrast.

After arriving at the train station, I hopped on the bus to Dune du Pilat, with the goal of taking some decent-looking shots.

While walking along the crest of the dune, I noticed a withered tree far below and decided to go check it out. I was careful not to walk into the frame, as I didn’t want to leave my footsteps in the sand.

From this viewpoint, it looked as if no one was there, but the dune was crowded. I guess I was lucky to take this shot without interruption.

After taking this shot I decided to get back on the crest of the dune, and make my way south. After walking for a while I noticed the trail I had left behind. Although there isn’t anything particularly interesting about it, I felt it might make for a cool picture.

Unfortunately I must have done something wrong while developing as I have all sorts of stains on the scans.
