Sunday in the Alps

On Sunday October 20th, I decided to go to Chamonix for a hike. It was sunny outside and quite warm for mid-October. I was wearing a t-shirt and wasn’t cold, even though I was at around 2000m in altitude.

With me I had both of my Zeiss lenses, the D850 and my FM2n. I’m incredibly impressed with these Zeiss lenses, they keep delivering fantastic results.

The adventure began with a gondola lift ride, ascending 800 meters from the Chamonix La Flégère station. The original plan was to go up to the Lac Blanc but I arrived quite late in the afternoon, and unfortunately didn’t have time to get there. I still managed to get a few nice shots along the way.

The first shot I took was actually before taking the gondola lift.

Here’s a shot I took from inside the gondola, looking out at the view. I captured it with my iPhone, and as expected, it turned out exactly how you’d imagine a photo through an acrylic window would—less than ideal.

Once arrived to the top I started walking on the path towards the Lac Blanc, this is one breathtaking view I captured:

The station on the right is where I arrived after taking the lift, I then walked on the path on the right up to this point.

At this point I decided to switch lenses to get a better view of the mountain range on the right. I am really happy with the result. Again this is a stitched panorama.

After hiking a bit more, I came across a small wooden bridge that went over a pond. I stopped and decided to take a panoramic shot:

After this shot I went back to the station as it was closing at 4:15 and I didn’t want to miss my ride down.

Me chilling in the mountains
